TWO out of four borough sides have something particularly important to play for today (Saturday, 22 April) - the final day of the Isthmian League's regular season.

The key clashes are in the Isthmian North.

Grays Athletic will play host to current bottom club Hullbridge Sports, who are destined - unless they can manage a huge win against Grays and both Great Wakering and Coggeshall Town lose - for automatic relegation.

Sports did manage a morale-boosting win against Coggeshall in midweek but the odds will be heavily stacked in favour of Grays.

A win for the Blues will secure a play-off spot as the two teams above them, Felixstowe and Walton United and Heybridge Swifts meet. All three sides are locked together on 69 points so Grays' hopes of post-season football and a shot at promotion are entirely in their own hands.

At the other end of the table Tilbury also control their own immediate destiny as they seek to avoid automatic relegation.

A point at home to Gorleston is all they need to ensure they go into the promotion/relegation play-off with a step five side.

Should they lose, and Coggeshall (home to New Salamis) and Great Wakering (home to AFC Sudbury win) then the Dockers would drop down to Step Five for the first time since the 2005/6 season.

East Thurrock United have ended the season with a dismal run of results that has seen them slump into the bottom half of the table and their final match is at play-off bound Lowestoft.

In the Isthmian Premier, Aveley travel to Enfield Town knowing the only thing at stake is whether they finish fifth or fourth.

Either way they face an away play-off semi-final in midweek against either Hornchurch or Canvey Island - who they drew with in midweek.
