Fun and football combine for local clubs
By Nub News Reporter 18th Apr 2026
THERE's fun as well as football at local grounds today (Saturday, 18 April) as two borough clubs host community days.
In their last regular season Isthmian premier home game of the campaign Aveley will welcome relegation battling Carshalton Athletic. A point for Brett Munyard's side will seal a home semi-final play-off place.
Despite securing a play-off place, Aveley still have second place to play for with Billericay Town hot on their heels. Carshalton will be looking to secure at least a point to try and avoid relegation with one place left up for grabs to avoid, in a shootout with Cray Valley PM.
It's the club's annual Community Day, with a number of stalls and more coming This Saturday.
Across the borough Grays Athletic also host their annual community day in the Isthmian North and it's another vital match.
A win for the Blues against fellow relegation candidates Lowestoft will all but mathematically secure their place in the division as they go into the match three points clear of Mildenhall Town in the fourth and final drop spot – and Grays have a far superior goal difference. The visiting Trawlerboys are one above the drop zone, two points ahead of Mildenhall but with a worse goal difference so the hosts are sure of a touhh test.
There will be a number of stalls and local businesses at the game with craft stalls, Thameside Theatre princesses, Essex Police, DJ, Eatstreet hot food and cakes, bar, and much more for fans to enjoy.
All children aged 16 and under will gain free entry,
Tilbury make their last trip of the season and will face Stanway Rangers, a side very much in the promotion play-off mix so it will be another hard test for Dockers, who went down at Gorleston, another team aiming to go up, last weekend.
East Thurrock Community FC have an Essex & Suffolk Border League Knock-out Cup semi-final against fellow league title chasers Great Bentley at the Wyldecrest Club (kick-off 2.30pm).
