Tilbury 0, Cambridge City 0

FOLLOWING a brilliant display on the road at title hopefuls, Felixstowe & Walton, during the week, Tilbury welcomed Cambridge City to Chadfields for more Isthmian League North action on Saturday (7 March).

There were two changes to Dockers' starting 11 that defeated the Seasiders, with Ronnie Winn and Josh Taylor replacing Jake Brocklebank and Lester Ward, who featured among the substitutes. Early in the game.

Dockers broke down the left flank, through Soumen Nandi who burst past Aaron Williams-Bushell before swinging a cross towards the arriving Dan Trendall. However, his header bounced just wide of the target.

The Lilywhites came close to opening the scoring in the 20th minute, when a cross was headed down in the area by George Smith, looking to set up Alex Warman. The midfielder attempted to poke the ball over the line, but he was denied by an incredible save from Billy Lawlor.

Lawlor was called to action once more before half-time, as another cross from the righthand side found Smith on the edge of the six-yard area. Smith glanced his header towards the far post, but another important stop from Lawlor kept the game level.

Tilbury walked out with mascots Tilbury FC U10's Trojans.

After the break, Josh Taylor won the ball back brilliantly on the halfway line before carrying the ball up the pitch and finding Dan Trendall on the left. Trendall's cross was met by Malaki Toussiant, but it was a simple save for James Philp.

In the dying moments, the hosts had one final opportunity to launch the ball into the box from a free-kick, but Jack Hayes' header flew wide of the target, and both sides had to settle for a draw.

SQUAD: Lawlor, Fry, Taylor (Ward), Hayes ©, Reeve, Elliott, Winn, Toussaint (Brocklebank), Jones, Nandi (Forbes), Trendall. SUBS UNUSED: Weston, East.

Dockers are back in action on Saturday 14 March when they travel to Heybridge Swifts
