THESE two Isthmian North sides went into Saturday's (22 March) with contrasting sequences of results.

Stow had gone four matches without a win, and as a consequence had slipped ten points away from the top five.

Grays travelled on the back of winning three in a row. And form held out!

It was a match of few thrills on a difficult pitch but it was Grays' determination and work rate that saw them come out on top.

Their application was praised by manager Darren Manning in his post match interview.

Moments after Grays missed a great chance when shooting over the bar, Elliott Sartorius gave the visitors the lead on 28 minutes and it was an advantage they took into the break.

The visitors started the second half well and should have done better with an early chance.

Stowe came back into it and Wyan Reid and sub Zad Al-Hussaini spurned chances to put them back on level terms.

That proved costly when Sartorius struck again seven minutes from time to seal the deal and a fourth straight win for the Blues, who are back in action on Tuesday evening (25 March) when they host relegation-threatened Basildon United.
