Grays Athletic 2, Redbridge 1

AS well as upsetting the formbook, Grays second Isthmian North win of the season lifted them into ninth in the table on Saturday (12 September).

The Blues took advantage of the fact that there were only two matches played in the division because of the FA Trophy to climb seven places and raise morale ahead of next weekend's long trip to third-placed Wroxham.

There was little between the sides in the first half, but Grays edged it thanks to a goal four minutes before the break from Denim Nnamudi, who ended a mazy run with a shot past visiting keeper Lewis Greene.

Redbridge got back on level terms five minutes into the second half with a goal from Louie Remi, a player well-known to home fans as he played 46 times for Grays, scoring ten, goals after signing from Maldon & Tiptree in 2024.

However, he wasn't able to get a win against his former club, and indeed had been replaced, as Grays stepped up in the closing stages and found an 82nd matchwinner from Oliver Muldoon.

As well as praising Blues' fans. manager Mitch Hahn gave his post match verdict on the win: -

After the match Grays announced that Ned Hepburn and Guy Norton have left the club.
