JUST two borough sides are in action today (Saturday, 11 November) following Grays' Friday night clash with Basildon which ended 1-1.

Basildon opened the scoring on 17 minutes when Kye Jude got on the end of a long ball into the box from centre midfield and lofted a header past Danny Sambridge.

The equaliser came in the 49th minute when Rob Clark won the ball and cleverly threaded a pass through to Charlie Stimson who took it in his stride and calmly finished.

That proved to be the end of the scoring in front of a crowd of 282.

There's another match at Chadfields today when Tilbury play host to Tring Athletic in the FA Vase Second Round.

The hosts go into the tie on the back of an unbeaten 16 match run following the emphatic midweek success against Little Oakley.

Tring sit in 12th in the Spartan South Midlands league and last won in the league in mid October. Their latest outing was a 3-1 home defeat by Milton Keynes Irish.

In the Vanarama National League South, Aveley face another tough test when they make the trek to Bath City.

Millers sit proudly in second place, having overcome most of the challenges thrown at them in a remarkable first half of the season but they face another difficult task at the home of a side just one place below them.

However, whatever happens, Millers will stay in second position at least as they are four points ahead of City and a win - and an unlikley defeat for leaders Yeovil who host second-from-bottom Dover - could even see them go top.
