PLANS are now well underway for the 2025 Orsett Show, which will take place on Saturday, 6 September. Attractions for this year's show, the 117th, is £18 (include main ring stars, the Squibb Freestyle Stunt Team and there will be many displays and attractions including exhibitions of gun dogs and birds of prey and much more.
President for the 2025 Show will be Michael Hughes, Managing Director of Whirledge & Nott Chartered Surveyors, a passionate supporter of rural events like Orsett since the 1990s.
With an extensive background in agriculture and land management - including roles as Honorary Secretary of the Rochford Hundred Agricultural Society, past Chairman of the Essex Agricultural Society, and President of Essex Agricultural Valuers - he brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the Orsett Show.
Mr Hughes shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming year, saying: "I have been a regular attendee of the show since the 1990s and am a great believer in rural events of this nature.
"I have been Honorary Secretary of the Rochford Hundred Agricultural Society for 27 years and am a past chairman of the Essex Agricultural Society and president of Essex Agricultural Valuers.
"In my day job I am Managing Director of Whirledge & Nott Chartered Surveyors, who provide advice for property owners across Essex and beyond. We have sponsored the show for more than 30 years and a significant proportion of our clientele are from the Thurrock area.
The Orsett Show continues to grow and is arguably the premier event of its type in Essex. I am looking forward to the event and hope everyone has an enjoyable day!"
The main arena will have the Bold Dog FMX Team as their main attraction but there will also be Shire Horses, a dog display, steam engines, the Bravo Equestrian Team, a Young Farmers' Farming Through the Year Display and Horse and Hounds. Also the much-loved sheep show will be back this year.
The numerous marquees around the Showground will host Agriculture, Hobbies & Handicrafts, Crafts, Horticulture, Essex Beekeepers Association and Education Zone to name just a few of the attractions.
This year the Horse Section is being run by a new committee and hosts more events so there will be lots of competitions going on in the horse arenas.
Advance tickets for this year's show are now available via the show website and include a family ticket for two adults and three children costing £35 (plus £1.73 booking fee).
An advance adult ticket (17 and above) is £18 (89p booking fee) and an advanced concession is £16 (79p booking fee).
On the day an adult ticket will be £20.
Children 16 and under enjoy free admission if accompanied by an adult and there is no charge for car parking.
