Hampton & Richmond 0, Aveley 1

Aveley held on for all three points against playoff hopefuls Hampton & Richmond on Saturday (17 February). Millers scored the only goal of the game at Beveree Stadium to get back to winning ways.

Hampton thought they made the breakthrough in the 39th minute but the goal was ruled out for a foul.

Charlee Hughes found the net for Millers after 72 minutes. Hughes flicked the ball past the goalkeeper who helped it in with a slight touch. The goal came after great second-half pressure from Aveley, a deserved lead.

Aveley scored another ten minutes later but the officials ruled Manny Ogunrinde handled the ball. The goal was chalked off and Ogunrinde was booked.

Superb saves and great defensive work made sure Aveley held on for all the points on the road.

Aveley go again on Monday (19 February) when they return to Parkside to play FA Cup heroes Maidstone United. Maidstone are unbeaten in five games and sit fourthg in the league. In the reverse fixture, Millers won one-nil away from home.
