Halloween start to non-League action
By Nub News Reporter 31st Oct 2025
GRAYS Athletic get the weekend non-League football action underway this evening (Friday, 31 October) when they make the trip to the Dome Group Stadium in Basildon to take on Bowers & Pitsea in the Isthmian North.
As it's Halloween, anyone in costume will get free entry!
Bowers are fifth in the table, while Grays have struggled in the league and sit in 17th - two places off the drop zone on goal difference.
Grays have not won in the league since beating Brightlingsea Regent 1-0 away on Tuesday, 7 October. Their lasting outing was a Velocity Cup loss on penalties to Redbridge on Monday.
After their FA Trophy exploits last weekend and a midweek 8-1 thumping of a young Braintree side in the Essex Senior Cup, Tilbury are at home to Walthamstow, hoping to catch up in terms of matches and climb up the table.
Dockers currently sit a place below Grays but have matches in hand on most of the teams above them, including two on tomorrow's (Saturday, 1 November) opponents Walthamstow, who sit 14th.
It's a gilt-edged chance for new managers George Christou and Jack Toghli to build on their bright start.
After a 3-3 away draw on Tuesday when they twice gave up leads against Dulwich Hamlet, Aveley will want to make up for that disappointment and move nearer the play-off zone with a win against 14th-placed Ramsgate. Millers are 11th, with matches in hand on those above them so will be looking for a strong performance.
In the Suffolk and Essex Border League Premier Division, after a weekend off, table-topping East Thurrock Community FC travel to fourth-from-bottom Belle Vue Social.
