Chichester City 0, Aveley 1
TWO coach loads of fans joined Aveley's squad and officials for their longest trip of the season on Saturday (31 January) and they were rewarded with three points to take home as Millers continue to chase leaders Folkestone at the top of the Isthmian Premier.
A remarkable run of form has seen Aveley climb the table, with just one defeat in 20 matches.
Jesse Nwabueze got the crucial goal for the visitors on 13 minutes. Toby Aromolaran set up the opportunity with a shot that keeper Kieran McGee could only parry into the path of Nwabueze who fired the ball past bodies on the line.
Millers remained the dominant force throughout the half but despite several chances they couldn't force a second.
It was a similar story for much of the second half, though Aveley were grateful on 54 minutes when a great save from Rylee Mitchell kept them ahead.
Chris Harris and Ollie Peters both went close for the visitors just after the hour but there were to be no more goals.
Aveley are next in action with a home derby against Dartford on Saturday, 7 February.
