ONLY Aveley FC of the borough's local sides will be in action today (Saturday, 7 February) after early morning pitch inspections saw postponement of the matches involving Tilbury and Grays.
Tilbury's game at Felixstowe and Walton was the first to go after the Martello ground pitch was declared waterlogged, and soon after the same verdict was announced at Chadfields, where Tilbury were due to entertain Wroxham.
In player news, Tilbury have announced the departuire of Tobias Braney following an approach from a fellow step 4 side.
Aveley will take on Dulwich Hamlet in the Isthmian Premier League at Parkside.
In the reverse fixture it was a six goal thriller on the Tuesday night in the Capital - with the gsme ending 3-3 after Millers led 2-0 and 3-2, but late goals from Dulwich Hamlet meant both sides shared the spoils.
The last time Aveley hosted Dulwich Hamlet at Parkside, was actually the first ever game at the new ground after Millers moved from Mill Field back in 2017. That year Dulwich ended up being promoted to the National South and Aveley finished mid-table in the Isthmian North - fast forward less than 10 years and Millers are looking for an imediate return to the National South and sit second, with Saturday's visitors sitting 10th with a game in hand on Dartford in fifth place.
East Thurrock CFC are also without a match. A number of the club's players who featured in an Essex and Suffolk Border league representative match in midweek. Harry Prince, Zac Bussell, Bobby Reeman, Tommy Barnacles and Ross Barnes all featured in a 3-0 win, which was supposed to be a warm up for an inter-league cup match today against the Southern Amateur League - but that too has been postponed because of an unplayable pitch at Harwich & Parkstone FC.
