MILLERS took the local derby bragging rights with a late winner in today's (Saturday, 19 July) pre-season friendly against Tilbury, which they hosted at Parkside.

Aveley's new signing Suley Zudhu continued his impressive start in Millers colours by capitalising when a shot was blocked on the goal-line, pouncing to guid the ball into the bottom corner after 19 minutes.

It was one of just a few chances at either end in a rain-soaked, stop-start first half.

Just six minutes of the second half had passed when Millers doubled their lead with a well-flighted curling effort from Elliott Sartorius. Tilbury thought they had pulled one back shortly after, but it was ruled out for offside.

Darren Phillips levels from the spot.

However, the visitors made it 2-1 just after the hour mark through Luke Reeve and they were level on 80 minutes through a penalty, converted by Darren Phillips.

The match was decided in Aveley's favour in the last minute when Jayden Gipson forced the ball over from close range.

Both sides will continue theuir pre-season preparations. Aveley travel to another side to drop from the National League, Needham Market on Saturday, 26 July, while Tilbury go to Frenford on Tuesday ( 22 July) ahead of next weekend's clash with Grays Athletic.

The two clubs' Isthmian League fixtures have now been released. Check out Aveley's here and Tilbury's via this link.
