MILLERS bounced back from the disappointment of a home defeat at the weekend to take all three points from Monday afternoon's (31 August) short trip to the Kingdom Stadium for an Essex derby with newly-promoted Rovers – who remain at the foot of the Isthmian Premier table with just one point.

The visitors made the better start and Anthony Jeffery was very much at the heart of the action, being thwarted by a great block and a linesman's flag as he sought to open the scoring.

He missed another good chance on 20 minutes but just two minutes later Millers did break the deadlock when a mazy run from Toby Aromolaran saw him round home stopper Dion Henry before slotting it into an open net.

Millers took the lead into the break and on the restart things were pretty even until just after the hour mark when Aveley grabbed their second when a goalmouth scramble ended with Jayden Gipson hammering the ball home.

The goal put Millers firmly in the box seat and they held on with a degree of comfort, almost adding to their tally in added time when sub Albie Armin hit a post.

Millers are in FA Cup First Qualifying Round action on Friday (4 September, 7.45pm) when they entertain fellow Isthmian Premier Cheshunt at Parkside.

Before that, there's an FA Youth Cup tie at Parkside on Tuesday (1 September, 7.30pm) when Aveley entertain West Essex.
