AVELEY kick off the local non-League football weekend this evening (Friday, 4 September) when they play host to fellow Isthmian Premier side Cheshunt in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round.

The match kicks off at 7.45pm and Millers go into it as the form favourites.

They sit seventh in the table and have won three out of their last four matches including Monday's bank holiday success at Stanway, while the Ambers have yet to win a league outing in six attempts, though they have drawn five of them. That five point haul leaves them in 17th. The two league meetings between the sides last season ended with honours even as both resulted in home wins.

A place in the next round of the FA Cup, plus a matchwinner's cheque for £2,250, is also at stake at Chadfields on Saturday where Grays Athletic play host to Isthmian Southern Central side Leiston.

It's a giant-killing opportunity for Grays but they will have to improve on recent form as they are three matches without a win, their last success being the 2-1 victory at Hutton in the previous round. The door may be ajar to change that run as Leiston are a little inconsistent, winning two, drawing two and losing two of their six matches so far. However, they sit eighth in the table, 27 pyramid places above the Blues.

Also in action tonight (7.45pm), are East Thurrock Community FC who entertain second-from-bottom NW London in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties Division South at Rookery Hill. Rocks sit mid-table in 11th and will be looking to building on last weekend's win against bottom club Brimsdown.

Tilbury are without a match this weekend as they bowed out of the FA Cup in the last round at Biggleswade Town.
