Dulwich Hamlet 2, Aveley 0

AFTER a first half which promised so much for Aveley as they pegged their hosts back at Champion Hill, momentum fell away and, in the end the reshaping Millers left south London with nothing.

The visitors set their attacking store out from the off and pushed Hamlet onto the back foot, moving the ball about well.

The first real chance came on eight minutes after a lengthy run from Toby Aromolaran brought a strike at goal, forcing a great save from Hudson Sands.

Just hours after re-signing for Millers Jon Nzengo made an impact on the game by setting up Aromolaran with a cut back, but his close range shot was blocked.

Another pacy counter-attack featuring Aromolaran saw his shot blocked, Said Mohammed-Marice, who was making his first start, picked up the ball and set up Malachi Napa, but his effort rose over the bar.

Albi Armin then rattled the woodwork to complete an impressive first 20 minutes for Millers. The pressure ebbed a little, though Napa struck the bar and then, moments before the break, the footballing Gods showed how unfair football can be as Dulwich converted their first significant chance when Gaspar Mico scored to give the hosts a totally undeserved lead going into half time.

And nine minutes after the resumption the agony was doubled when Ogo Obi netted.

The goal deflated Millers and the match was played out on a much more even footing but there was to prove no way back.
