Millers get the job done

Aveley 2, Potters Bar Town 0
It was a case of 'job well done' for Aveley who bounced back from dropping points against Chichester in midweek to record a statement win against battling Bar to keep up their pursuit of Isthmian premier leaders Folkstone.
Millers are not quite on the heels of the runaway long time leaders, though they have a match in hand they are in second, 13 points behind the Kent side but they have clearly not given up the chase.
With one defeat in ten the Millers continue to make a positive attempt to reel in Invicta and they passed their latest test against the travelling Scholars who started the afternoon six points from safety and are approaching each game in the battle for survival with increased tenacity.
However, it took the hosts only a minute to take the lead, Jayden Robinson with the opening goal which he calmly converted after being set up by a clever combination of play from Matty Johnson and Fletcher Hubbard.
To their credit Bar produced a spirited response and it took good work from Ryan Henshaw and Jayden Gipson to cut out three attacking moves that threatened an equaliser.
On 19 minutes Millers were forced into an early change, Early change for Aveley with Toby Aromolaran coming on for Chris Harris.
The game became increasingly fractious, with Aveley players and supporters frustrated by a number of decisions from ref Mario Stetakovic, but they kept their composure and took the lead into the break.
Manager Brett Munyard's post match verdict:-
Millers almost started the second stanza with a goal but after George Saunders delivered a great ball from the right into Aromolaran's path he puts the ball over the crossbar.
Robinson was then denied from close range by Bar stopper Josh Shattell.
Shattell was far the busier of the two keepers without having to over extend himself and thoughScholars did have the ball in the net from a 79th minute it was ruled out.
That incident did show the game was far from won and Millers had to be on their guard but the points were made safe in the last minute when sub Jesse Nwabuese was brought down in the box and Saunders converted the subsequent spot kick.
Millers will hope to make the most of their match in hand on Folkestone when they travel to 15th placed Cheshunt on Tuesday (24 February).
