Whitehawk 0, Aveley 1
AVELEY'S improved form continued on the south coat on Saturday (8 November), with an Isthmian Premier win at Whitehawk.
The victory lifted Brett Munyard's side takes their unbeaten run to seven and lifted them a place to fourth.
Hawks, who defeated leaders Brentwood in midweek, had lost only two of their previous ten and were determined not to be the latest notch on the Millers belts. There was a stop start opening with little action as neither side could find their rhythm in the opening quarter hour.
The standard improved as the half ticked on and the teams settled and it was to be Aveley who broke the deadlock just before the half hour when they were awarded a penalty which Ollie Peters convincingly netted.
Home stopper Francis Hurl then denied Suley Zuhdu after good work by Tobi Tinubu and the single goal separated the sides at the break.
There was an escape for the visitors on 67 minutes when it looked like the ball was headed for the back of the net but Jayden Gipsen found himself in the right place to clear off the line.
in the closing stages Aveley lost Ollie Muldoon who was replaced by Jesse Nwabueze after being stretchered off.
There was late drama with an added time attack as Hawks pressed but Aveley stood strong and held out for the win.

On Monday (10 November) Millers will play host to Benfleet in the fourth round of the BBC Essex Senior Cup.
