Aveley 9, Benfleet 0

AVELEY produced a ruthless performance to demolish Essex Senior League Benfleet in Monday evening's BBC Essex Senior Cup fourth round tie at Parkside.

Prior to Saturday's 1-0 Isthmian Premier win at Whitehawk, Millers has scored 18 goals in five matches and they were eager to add to that tally against a side two steps below them.

Benfleet had produced the result of the third round, winning at Canvey Island on penalties but there was to be no giant killing repeat this time out.

It took 14 minutes to break the deadlock on Monday, when Chris Harris headed home, and Millers  hit the woodwork through Jayden Robinson's free kick, before – a couple of minutes later - Ryan Charles latched onto a bouncing ball in the Fleet box to hammer it home on 18 minutes.

Ten minutes on Jesse Nwabueze scored from distance with a shot over the keeper's head and into the back of the net.

And a fourth goal came seven minutes before the break from the head of Harry Haysom. There was still time in the half left for Harris to go close with an effort that came back off the post.

Millers fans didn't have to wait long into the second half to see the net ripple again, with Nwabueze getting his second. and nine minutes into the half his tally became a hat-trick as Aveley notched goal number six thanks to his shot from distance.

It was proving to be Nwabueze's night and he matched the recent feat of teammate Suley Zuhdu, who also notched four in the recent win at Cray Valley PM. And that wasn't the end of it - on 69 minutes he grabbed a fifth, latching onto a ball from Tobi Tinubu to net with a first time finish.

Ollie Peters came off the bench for the final stages and, moments after failing to convert a one-on-one with the keeper, he did find the net to make it nine with five minutes remaining.

Millers are next in action away to Carshalton in the league on Saturday (15 November) and they have another home cup tie next Monday when they entertain Witham Town in the Isthmian Velocity Cup third round.
