AVELEY'S youngsters bowed out of the FA Youth Cup on Monday (12 October) evening by the cruellest of measures.
After the match ended 1-1 it went straight to a penalty shoot-out, which the Parkside hosts lost 4-2.
Millers had taken the lead in the 20th minute on a swift counter-attack after a great defensive header from William Turner-Smith. Aveley quickly broke forwards and at the end of the move Mia Ferreira expertly fired home.
Both sides had chances as keepers at each end were kept busy before the Suffolk side equalised on 51 minutes through Ashton Rayworth, who produced a neat finish inside the box
That was it as far as scoring in normal time was concerned, and a place in the first round proper went to the visitors thanks to more fine work from keeper Nathaniel Copping who saved two spot kicks.
