TILBURY progressed in the FA Cup on Saturday, (17 August) despite concededing an early goal to lower league Stanway Rovers.

The Dockers went behind to the Essex Senior League side when George Okoye found the net on ten minutes, but they were on level terms on 28 minutes through Lewis Manor's goal.

Seven minutes later Sam Carter gave the hosts the lead and a second goal from Manor, just after the hour, securted their place in Monday's draw.

In the Vanarama National League South, Aveley led twice, but were pegged back by a controversial penalty and a tap in from close range from visitors Tonbridge Angels.

Millers opened the scoring early in the first half when Charlee Hughes' shot was palmed out by the keeper, only to be tapped home by Josh Anifowose!

Angels controversially equalised on the stroke of half time when keeper Carey Bloedorn was adjudged to have fouled an opposition player as he punched the ball away. Liam Vincent converted the spot kick.

The lead was restored in the second half when Garrett Kelly slammed home a shot but the visitors drew level on 72 minutes when Sean Shields was gifted the opportunity to score from close range.

Aveley are back in league action on Monday evening (19 april) at Parkside when Hemel Hempstead Town are the visitors.

In the Essex and Suffolk Border League, a young and depleted East Thurrock Community FC went down 3-0 at home to Earls Colne.

Today (Sunday, 18 August), Grays Athletic entertain Witham Town in another Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, kick off is at 3pm.
