A BUDDING footballing talent from Grays has just signed up with Premier League giants Arsenal.
Twelve-year-old Reiss Tweneboa-Kodua, a Year 8 student at Orsett Heath Academy, has joined the Gunners' Academy.
The youngster has been praised by Andy Dobson, Director of PE & Sport at South West Essex Community Education Trust which runs Orsett Heath who said: "Massive congratulations to Reiss. He plays for our school side who got to the Essex cup final last year and my district team. He's probably the most complete footballer I've ever seen."
Coaches from the Academy and the Head of Recruitment were present to celebrate with Reiss and his family when he signed on Thursday (7 March).
All spoke highly of his ability and character. A five minute video of his highlights from trial games was shown, which included personal messages from Per Mertesacker and Jack Wilshere, both ex-Arsenal players who now coach at the club in the U18s.
Reiss, who lives in Stifford Clays and previously attended St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School, has been on a football journey since Year 5 when he left Spurs Academy. He played for Thurrock District Schools in Year 6, and signed for Southend United when he was in Year 7.
