Aveley 4, Taunton Town 1

SIJU Odelusi netted a hat-trick to celebrate his birthday as Millers produced an emhpatic win at Parkside to mark their first home National League South match in style.

The game's opening goal came on 19 minutes when Odelusi scored from the penalty spot after Taunton's Cam Evans brought Matt Rush down in the box.

Millers had other chances and came close to extending the lead, mot notably when Rush struck the woodwork.

However, scores were level five minutes before the break when the visitors' Malachi Linton capitalised on a loose pass and scored.

Aveley responded in the best possible way, four minutes into first half added time, when Odelusi put Aveley back in front with his second of the afternoon.

In the second period, the hosts kept the pressure on and created more chances and just after the hour, it was 3-1 after great run from Kenny Aileru who squared the ball to Charlee Hughes who poked it home.

From there, the game's intensity dwindled a bit as Aveley looked to hold on to the 3-1 lead and secure the three points.

However, Odelusi had the last say as he completed his hattrick with a corner that sailed into the top corner in added time.

Manager Danny Scopes was delighted with the way his squad bounced back from an opening day defeat at Chippenham and said: "We played really well and Siju was very lively in the box".
