TILBURY brushed aside struggling Ilford at Cricklefield Stadium on Monday (22 January) to maintain a substantial lead at the top of the Essex Senior League

Dockers travelled to face an out-of-form Ilford who had conceded 19 goals in their previous three matches and made no mistake.

The visitors were off the mark after just 11 minutes thanks to Roman Campbell. Miscommunication between the Ilford keeper and defender left Campbell with the easiest finish of the season.

Tilbury had all of the ball in the first half, but the top-of-the-table side only managed the one goal before the break.

Dockers' dominance continued in the second half and the away side grabbed their insurance goal in the 76th minute when Alex Clark got on the end of a defence-splitting through ball and slotted coolly past the keeper.

Tilbury remain top of the league with 54 points, seven ahead of second-place Sporting Bengal. Dockers also have two games in hand.

This Saturday (27 January) Tilbury return to the EMR Stadium to face White Ensign in the league. Ensign sit 16th in the league and have not won in four games.
