Romford 0, Tilbury 1

TILBURY survive late scares to beat third place Romford one-nil in the Essex Senior League. Dockers fought hard at Rookery Lane and remain top of the league with three games in hand.

It was a quiet first half with not much to shout about. Both sides failed to trouble the opposition too much.

Dockers scored in the 56th minute thanks to Sam Carter. The ball came in from a corner and Romford failed to clear, a goalmouth scramble ended with Carter wheeling away in celebration.

Tilbury held on for all three points after a Romford onslaught in the last few minutes.

Dockers have a quick turnaround as they play Ilford at Cricklefield Stadium on Monday (22 January). Ilford have lost their last three games and conceded 19 goals, they sit 19th in the Essex Senior League.
