Great Wakering 0, Tilbury 1

TILBURY score a late winner at Burroughs Park to beat Great Wakering one-nil in the Essex Senior League. In Tuesday night's game (27 February), Harry Donovan's scrappy finish gives Dockers all three points.

It was a quiet first half for both sides, no clearcut chances.

Wakering had some great opportunities in the second half and forced Christian North into action a few times.

In the last 10 minutes, Tilbury had ramped up the pressure and were creating decent chances. Dockers finally scored in the 86th minute through Donovan. A long free kick was played in and found Connor Martin who headed back across the goal for Donovan to bundle home.

That win meant Tilbury are now a staggering 21 games unbeaten in the Essex Senior League.

Tilbury go again on Wednesday (6 March) when the play Sporting Bengal at Mile End in the Essex Senior League. Bengal are fifth in the table and have lost their last four league games. The wait for a Dockers home fixture in 2024 goes on.
