TILBURY are out of the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy after losing one-nil to Romford in the first round. Dockers fell short at Rookery Lane on Tuesday evening (13 February, now their focus is solely on winning the Essex Senior League.

It was a quiet first half, but the standout moment was when Dockers goalkeeper Christian North pulled off an excellent double save in the 33rd minute to keep the score level.

Tilbury had decent chances early in the second half, none better than Alex Clark's effort in the 50th minute. Dan Trendall played a superb switch to Clark, but his effort was saved.

Romford took the lead after 73 minutes through Hassan Nalbant who headed low into the bottom corner following a near post cross.

Next, Tilbury face Coggeshall Town at West Street in the Essex Senior League. Coggeshall have not won in a staggering 16 games and are in last place (20th) in the league. Earlier in the season the reverse fixture ended one-all.
