WHILE it's been a quiet seven days on the field for Aveley FC after last weekend's emphatic win at Three Bridges that lifted Millers into the play-off zone, there's been plenty off field activity to keep Millers fans focussed.

Monday (24 August) brought news of an Emirates FA Cup first qualifying round home clash with fellow Isthmian League Premier Division side, Cheshunt. The game has been arranged for Friday, 4 September.

And the club have also announced a new first team short sponsor, with Dartford-based CBC Glazing agreeing a deal for the 2026/27 and 2027/28 seasons.

CBC director Bradley Wood said: "I am excited in beginning our partnership with Aveley FC, especially in their centenary year.

"I look forward to visiting Parkside to see the lads in action soon."

Aveley chairman Craig Johnson, said: "I am delighted that Brad has made the decision to become part of the Millers' centenary celebration with his company CBC Glazing, becoming our front of shirt sponsor the next two seasons. I look forward to officially welcoming Brad and members of his team to Parkside."

Tomorrow (Saturday, 29 August), seventh-placed Millers play host to Lewes at Parkside in the Isthmian Premier. Both sides have two wins and a draw from their opening four games.

Grays Athletic will renew their love affair with the FA Trophy on Saturday - travelling to meet another south Essex club that also has a rich history in the premier non-League cup competition.

Grays are two-time winners of the competition, one of 13 teams to have lifted the trophy twice, though never at Wembley.

At Villa Park in 2005, they beat Hucknell Town in a penalty shootout, following a 1-1 draw after extra time. In the following year, they won 2-0 against Woking at West Ham United's Boleyn Ground.

Their latest outing will be in the more humble surroundings of Canvey's Steve's Taxis Stadium. Canvey also also hold an FA Trophy win in their cavalcade of honours, win the FA Trophy winning it by beating Forest Green Rovers 1-0 in the 2007 final at Villa Park

Also in Trophy action will be Tilbury, who play host at Chadfields to Hertford Town from the Southern League Central Divison where they have accumulated two points from two draws in their three fixtures to date.

Like Tilbury, who lost at Biggleswade Town, Hertford exited the FA Cup last weekend, beaten 4-0 by Isthmian League Division One South Central Hendon.

In the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties Division South, East Thurrock Community FC are at home to bottom club Brimsdown, who have no points from three league matches to date.

Borough sides face a quick turnround, with the following fixtures on Bank Holiday Monday: Stanway Rovers v Aveley; Tilbury v Walthamstow; Concord Rangers v Grays Athletic.
