EAST Thurrock United enjoyed an excellent, morale boosting win against higher league opposition at Canvey Island's Park Lane on Tuesday (2 August) evening.

After an evenly contested opening half, Isthmian North Rocks gradually took the upper hand against their Premier Division hosts after the break and Olly Miles fired in a screamer on 65 minutes to put Rocks in front.

A second goal came with six minutes left, the hard grafting Harry Hope tucking home after some superb play down the right by Amaree Robinson-Jones.

Rocks have one more pre-season game remaining, that's on Saturday when another Isthmian Premier side Lewes visit Rookery Hill. The game was originally planned to be away, but has been switched.

Over at Parkside, Aveley played host to hashtag United and emerged victorious 3-2 from their penultimate pre-season game.

However, there was disappointment for Grays Athletic who travelled to Welwyn Garden City FC and went down 2-0 to a goal early in each half. To compound the disappointment Sam Bantick was sent off in the last minute.
