STANFORD Warriors Jujitsu Club is celebrating an impressive summer of competition after 12 of its students competed at the Great Britain Jujitsu National Championships in Walsall a couple of weeks ago.

Competing in both Sporting Jujitsu and Ne-Waza, the team brought home an outstanding 10 gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals. The achievement is particularly impressive for several students who were competing at this level for the first time.

And the success continued at Walsall last weekend when the family-run club took part in the BJJAGB Nationals, taking an even larger team of 23 students. The competitors have trained for more than 50 hours over the summer in preparation and they were rewarded with another impressive haul.

They came back from the nationals with nine gold, eight silver and five bronze medals.

The competition schedule continues in October when the team, joined by a younger contingent of Stanford Warriors athletes, will travel to Gibraltar to compete in the United Nations Jujitsu competition, representing Team GB.

Stanford Warriors, based at the former Crooked Billet pub site at the Billet Recreation Ground, Billet Lane, competes nationally and internationally, representing the BJJA GB and participating in JJIF Sporting Jujitsu.

A family-run club with classes available from just three years old, Stanford Warriors prides itself on high standards, developing confidence, discipline and sporting ability. The club also boasts a growing number of British and international champions among its members.
