Richmond 74, Thurrock T-Birds 15

THURROCK took another demoralising battering on Sunday (11 January) when they were outgunned by Championship South leaders Richmond.

T-Birds' previous worst defeat was a 48-0 home loss at the hands of Old Albanian Saints in early November and they have copped a couple of other disappointing results since, winning just two of six matches since.

The match was already in the home side's grasp when the teams went in 43-5 behind at half time, Thurrock's only reward being a try just before the break from Rosie Bennett who dived and stretched to get the ball down over the tryline after a strong surge from T-Birds following a scrum.

They fared little better in the second stanza as the hosts racked up another 31 points, but there were tries for Millie Thurman-Newell and Samantha Willmott.
