Commemoration of the Rev John Newton
The event will include the Thurrock Green Plaque reveal for Rev Newton, who wrote the hymn Amazing Grace.
It was John Newton who persuaded William Wilberforce to stay on as MP and set up the society for the abolition of slavery.

An xxhibition at the Heritage Centre follows on 21st, 24th, 25th & 28th July.
