IT'S FA Trophy time this weekend for two of the borough's teams and Aveley will be hoping they go another step towards reaching last season's quarter-finals – where they finally bowed out against the giants of Notts County.

In tomorrow's (Saturday, 31 October) Aveley face a much less-lauded team but will nevertheless still have to pull off a giant-killing act if they are to progress in their home tie against Southern Premier South Beaconsfield Town – who haven't won a single match in any competition so far this campaign.

Aveley have been in inconsistent form over the last few weeks, with two wins and three defeats from their last five matches but will be optimistic of pulled off another Trophy landmark win.

Across the borough East Thurrock United can put their struggles at the foot of the Isthmian Premier to one side, though they will be facing a team from the same division in the Trophy when Cheshunt visit Rookery Hill.

The Rocks will be looking for revenge after their visitors defeated them one-nil in the first game of the season.

In the Isthmian North first plays fourth in the day's top tie with leaders Tilbury playing host to Soham Town Rangers as both look to get back to winning ways. The Dockers lost at nearest rivals Maldon and Tiptree in midweek, while at the same time Rangers were falling to defeat against AFC Sudbury.

Three points separate them at kick off, and a point will ensure that the Dockers stay top - while three for Rangers could see them replace their hosts.

Grays Athletic are without a match this weekend.
