PLANS for a small over 50s housing development in Fobbing, consisting of five single story, chalet-style homes, have been resubmitted to Thurrock Council after the applicant dropped plans to include a dentist's surgery within the scheme.

The application for five homes for people aged 55 and over at Greenacre off the village High Road was first submitted earlier this year but met with some opposition and was withdrawn before it came to the planning committee.

The applicant's agent, Chris Nixon, says: "Concerns were raised from the general public with regards to the dentist.

"These concerns locally centred mostly around the likely increase in vehicle movements to the area.

"As such, the applicant has taken on board these concerns.

"This new application removes the dentist from the proposal and focuses on building specialisd detached housing for the over 55s location."

The application has been submitted just a couple of weeks after councillors on Thurrock's planning committee overruled officer objections for a plans to build an over 55s development of more than 100 homes at Landgon Hills Golf Club - another development in the green belt.

Full details of the application and the opportunity to comment can be found here.
