Gun attacks damage buses and company says it may have to curtail services after latest in a continuing series of incidents involving items thrown at vehicles

IN the latest incident of vandals attacking buses and putting services at risk windows have been smashed by gun pellets this evening.
It happened in the Chadwell St Mary and Tilbury area and three buses operated by Ensign Buses on the 77A route have been damaged.
The latest shooting, believed to be with a BB gun, happened near the Gateway Academy just before 9pm this evening (Monday, 31 January).
A statement from Ensign says: "And another bus window has just been smashed near Gateway Academy.
"Now believed to be a BB gun being used as ball bearings found.
"Any more of this and the 77A will be subject to curtailment. Disruption to services is possible from tomorrow morning due to having three vehicles off the road now."
Last week services by Ensign in the Aveley are were disrupted when objects, most eggs, were thrown at buses and service were temporarily suspended.
