By Neil Speight   13th May 2020

THE latest round of figures just released shows the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Thurrock puts the figure at 105.

That is up to 1 May and coronavirus accounted for 24 per cent of all deaths in the borough between 29 February and that date.

Cases only include people who have had a positive test for the virus. Not everyone with the virus will have had a test.

Deaths include any death where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The statistics show that one in three of those confirmed to have picked up the virus, there have 302 confirmed cases in a population of 172,525, has died.

There are now nearly 230,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK and 33,186 people have died, according to the latest government figures.

While the death toll in Thurrock has hit a landmark figure - there have still been stories of those who have beaten the virus. Here Brian Sadler tells us how he came through a terrifying ordeal in Basildon Hospital.
