PLANS have been submitted to Thurrock Council to demolish a house in a popular residential area of Stanford-le-Hope and replace it with two large semi-detached dwellings.

The site is on the corner of the junction of Branksome Avenue and Branksome Close.

Over a couple of decades there have been several applications to develop the site in the Homesteads ward, known as 'Jemaine', with more than the one chalet-style building that currently occupies it.

Attempts have been made without success to get as many as four chalet-style homes or three detached homes on the site. All have been rejected.

The latest application comes from owner and current occupier Pankaj Verma.

His hope is to create a large structure split into two homes, each with separate summerhouse outbuildings, integral garages and parking provision.

Details of the application can be found here.

The application has already met with opposition, with one Stanford-le-Hope resident saying: "I wish to object to these plans on the grounds that, the proposed plans could add extra traffic pulling out onto and slowing down on an already very busy corner of a very busy road creating.

"Also squeezing two buildings where there is currently one is just simply overcrowding for both profit and completely changing the character of the area."
