POLICE have now identified two people who may have been involved in the assault that led to the death of a Grays man who was attacked in the early hours of the morning.

Police have now named the victim of the attack which took place just after midnight on the morning of Monday, 30 November, who subsequently died in Basildon Hospital the following days because of the severity of his injuries.

He was Gary Clark, 40, from Ward Avenue who was known and well liked locally. Mr Clark had some learning difficulties and was known and cared for by a number of local people who have paid tribute to him since his death.

In the immediate aftermath of the attack a 26-year-old man from Grays was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He was interviewed and has been since released on bail until 21 December. No charges have been made.

Police announced they were looking for two other people present when the assault took place and launched an appeal for information about them and urged them to come forward and assist with their enquiries.

Now police have announced they have come forward and the investigation is progressing.
