Police seek help as they probe store theft

POLICE are seeking help from the public after a raid on a Co-op in Stanford-le-Hope.

They wish to speak to James Alexander in connection with a theft from the store on the town's High Street.

A police statement says: "It was reported a suspect stole money from the till of the High Street Co-op on 19 December 2025.

"He went over the counter, started taking bottles of alcohol, also opened the till – taking a small amount of change.

"It took place at 5.04pm, when the shop was open.

"Alexander, 47, is about 6ft tall, medium build, with short grey hair and a beard.

"If you have any information, please contact us quoting investigation number 42/167115/25.
