PLANS have been shared with residents in Aveley for a major new housing development, comprising 445 new homes.

The developers, Alumina, say that nearly 10% of the homes proposed will be bungalows. 64% of the homes will be traditional houses and 29% will be flats. They add at least 35% of the homes will be classed as affordable. This will include a mixture of homes for affordable rent and shared ownership.

Alumina say they would like to bring forward new, state of the art healthcare facilities to Aveley and are currently in discussions with Thurrock Council and the NHS to include a new GP surgery and diagnostic centre as part of their plan.

Thurrock Council has previously identified the land west of Romford Road as potentially suitable for a new neighbourhood in the Regulation 18 Local Plan consultation document in late 2023.

The developers are seeking feedback on their plans and have created a website. You can view it and read more about the development, as well as comment via this link.
