A FUNDRAISER has been launched to buy nurses and midwives working at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust hospitals, which includes Basildon Hospital, a much-needed cuppa and a cake to say thank you for all they do.

The Mid and South Essex Health and Care Partnership (HCP) has teamed up with the Trust, Little Fin Coffee Roastery and Hugo's Pantry, based in Southend, to launch a short fundraising campaign that will see nurses and midwives rewarded on Wednesday, 18 May for their hard work.

Lucy Thomas-Clayton, director at Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity said: "We are delighted to help play our role in this joint partnership, it is a fantastic idea and one which we know will be gratefully received by our nurses and midwives. It will make their day.

"Both play an important part in delivering great care to our patients, and we know many people who have been cared for by a nurse or midwife will want to give thanks in this way."

Ian, owner of Little Fin Coffee Roastery  said: "I was only too pleased to help get this Big Trust Thank You off the ground. Nurses work so hard and deserve a little treat, so International Nurses' Day was the perfect catalyst to get something organised. Working with Hugo's Pantry we hope to offer every nurse and midwife in all three hospital sites a free treat. We will match fund this and ensure that for every £6 donated, two nurses or midwives can enjoy a slice of Hugo's cake and a cup of Little Fin Coffee or Twist tea!"

The mobile coffee unit and cakes will be available in all three hospital sites in Basildon, Broomfield and Southend on 18 May.
