RESIDENTS in Stanford-le-Hope enjoyed a detailed presentation of the town and region's history at a recent event held at the Welcome Club.

The Stanford history presentation was made to a large audience by local historian Peter Watson.

The event was free to attend but raised £163.34 in donations which Mr Watson will share between the Stanford War Memorial Trust and Stanford Blooming Marvels.

Mr Watson has expressed thanks to James and Sue Heale at the Welcome for facilitating the venue and Dave Sargeant, Chairman and organiser of the Stanford and Corringham Carnival, donating and setting up his sound system.

Many of those who attended have expressed their thanks on social media and a common question was 'will there be more?'

Peter says: "I have made this presentation several times already since 2015 and around 400 people in all must have attended.

"It is still a work in progress as new information comes along but I can't really add too much as the session is well two hours now! I have no plans at the moment for another but if enough people ask I could sort out a new date."
