AN afternoon of celebration took place at an award-winning Grays cafe on Sunday (2 November).

The Proper Vintage Tearoom on William Street, which recently won the Essex Eats best cafe award, marked its first anniversary with a party for invited guests.

Entertainment at the venue, run by Wendy and Ian Mills, was provided by Grays Town Band and local singer Geri Lynn.

Among the guests were Thurrock MP Jen Craft and borough councillor Qaisar Abbas.
