MOTORISTS and residents have been reminded that the A128 Brentwood Road will be closed three nights this week, starting this evening (Monday, 20 September) and through the whole of the coming weekend for works to construct the new approach to the Orsett Cock Roundabout.

The closure will affect the A128 in both directions between Orsett Road and Orsett Roundabout.

A diversion will be in place via the A127, A176 and A13/A1013 (and vice versa) and road users are urged to avoid using village routes, to minimise disruption to residents.

The midweek closures start at 9pm this evening and the road will be closed until 5am. The same closure will happen on Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

On Thursday (23 September) from 9pm to 5am the A13 eastbound exit slip road will be closed towards the Orsett Roundabout. The suggested diversion is via the A13 eastbound to the A1014 (Stanford-le-Hope) junction and return.

On Friday, from 9pm to 4am, Saturday, on the A13 westbound lane one (of two) will be closed between the A1014 (Stanford-le-Hope) and the A128 (Orsett Cock) junction.

Over the whole weekend the A128 Brentwood Road will be closed in both directions between Orsett roundabout and Orsett Road, Horndon. The suggested diversion is via the A1013, A13, A176, A127 and A128 and vice versa.

Thurrock Council is anticipating substantial delays over the weekend and says: "During whole weekend closures there may be traffic delays of up to an hour – all non-local traffic should avoid the A13 and use alternative routes such as the A130, A127 and M25."
