THE A128 just outside Chadwell St Mary remains closed this morning despite Essex and Suffolk Water engineers working through the night.

Nub News reported from the scene this morning.

The closure, on a bend just outside Chadwell, began yesterday (Thursday 21October).

Work has been hampered by floodwater which gathered from Wednesday evening's storm and has yet to drain away.

And issues may have been hampered by a well-intentioned digger driver who attempted to create a runaway point for the floodwater on Wednesday evening/Thursday morning but who appears to have damaged the main.

Engineers say that still hope to get the road open sometime later today but through the morning rush hour it looks likely to remain closed.
