A CHADWELL St Mary woman completed her fundraising efforts this evening (Tuesday, 18 May) for two organisations that helped save her life.

As reported on Thurrock Nub News earlier this week, Loren Dixon decided to mark the anniversary of a stoke that almost killed her by running and walking 15 miles around the town.

Last May, when she was just 25 years old, Loren was in her garden when she became victim of the stroke, that resulted in her receiving treatment at Basildon and Romford Hospitals – and then embarking on a recovery programme.

Now fit and well, she decided to say thanks to the hospitals and the Stroke Association in a practical way and launched a fundraising page. It's still open if you would like to make a donation.

Initially she hoped to raise £200 but has already raised more than £500 after today's run when she was accompanied by her partner Harry Rodell (26) and brother Sidney (15), setting out from the family home on Longhouse Road at 3.30pm.

Despite some heavy showers the trio, who were accompanied for parts of the run by family and friends, completed the challenge, ending on Chadwell Heath just four hours later!
