Yesterday (Friday, 3 January) the road was closed eastbound following a mid-afternoon crash.

Today it was the westbound carriageway that was affected when the incident was first reported at around 1.40pm.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We're on the scene of a collision on the London-bound A13 at Pitsea, which was reported shortly after 1.40pm today.

"Thankfully, there are no reports of serious injuries. The road was closed London-bound while emergency services and partner agencies made the road safe."

The incident was eventually cleared and the road was flowing again by 3.35pm with the backlog cleared in around 15 minutes.
