ADULT learners at Thurrock Adult Community College (TACC) have celebrated their achievements following the announcement last week of GCSE pass results.

College principal Jaki Bradley, said: "Congratulations to our GCSE learners - they did so well and succeeded in the most difficult of circumstances. They are a great set of results and it's very positive that the moderators also supported the grades awarded. We are so proud of both our adult learners and amazing staff, who continued to deliver adult education for Thurrock residents throughout difficult operating circumstances".

Their tutor, Susan, added that she was so proud of this group of learners, saying: "Learners have worked extremely hard with some of them having Covid during the course; some learners were unfamiliar with technology and yet they persevered and met the challenges!"

The cohort of students were the last to pass through the college at its base in Richmond Road, Grays, which has now been closed as Thurrock Council wish to redevelop the site. However, the future for the college remains bright, the borough's portfolio holder for education, Cllr Barry Johnson, told Thurrock Nub News last month.

Opportunities remain for study at new sites across the borough, including the South Essex College campus in he heart of Grays. TACC offers students aged 19 and over at any stage of life a wide range of lifelong learning opportunities. Spaces are available on free GCSE maths and English classes starting September (ESFA eligibility rules apply).
