A SOUTH Ockendon woman is striding out to raise money and the profile of a charity that has offered fantastic support that had helped her mother and family cope with the impact of a stroke.

Angela Murray-Brown has already beaten her fundraising target after signing up for the Stroke Association's 'Stride for Stroke' campaign.

The challenge involves participants taking one step for each of the 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK. The 1.2 million steps challenge works out at 10,000 steps a day for 120 days.

Angela, who works for a sustainability organisation called Planet Mark as its People and Culture Manager, is now adding up the steps to raise funds and help provide support for those in need.

She says: "At the beginning of 2019 my mum suffered a life changing stroke. In the blink of an eye mum went from being physically fit and active to being rushed to surgery for a hemicraniectomy.

"Due to the amazing work of the neurosurgical team at The Royal London hospital my mum is still here with us. Now wheelchair-bound we are navigating the new normal and the Stroke Association are a fantastic support for families.

"I want to give back and help raise awareness of a condition that has the ability to pull the rug out from underneath you no matter your age, gender or ethnicity. Please dig deep and help make a difference to someone's life when they need it the most."
