THE continuing concern of residents on Wharf Road and adjoining streets has been highlighted in a social media posting of a lorry attempting to reverse back down Wharf Road after coming up against a bridge with a height restriction.

Access to the Stanhope industrial estate in Stanford-le-Hope has been a significant problem for HGVs for many years. Not only do they face the height restriction underneath a railway bridge, but the narrow residential road is a real hazard, with almost chicane-like manoeuvres required to get through.

The video posted by Jon Nash on the Wharf Road Action Group Facebook page is the latest in a string of pictorial representations of the problems residents, local motorists – and lorry drivers – face on a daily basis.

Mr Nash has called on Thurrock Council and ward councillors Terry Piccolo and Shane Hebb to 'do their job' and sort the issue.

Alongside his video post he says: "Another lorry taking no notice of road signs, too high to get under the bridge to deliver to Travis Perkins. If I hadn't moved my car for him so he could get round the corner he would still be here now.

"Come on councillors, do your job and get this sorted. We shouldn't have to put up with this!"
