Cadets and specials drafted in to help combat speeding and anti-social vehicles

SPECIAL constables and police cadets were called I to get involved in a purge on nuisance vehicles in Thurrock.
Thurrock division's community police team were joined by specials and cadets on Sunday, 9 January) for a day of action.
The cadets ran a speeding operation at Orsett Heath, supported by a number of senior officers.
Elsewhere officers conducted foot patrols and intelligence-led mobile patrols across several locations targeting off road bikes, including the fields adjacent to Billet Lane and Wharf Road in Stanford-le-Hope, Muckingford Road in Linford and the Heath fields in Chadwell.
A police spokesperson said: "The day was a great success, with more than 40 checks and stop searches conducted, one stolen moped was located and recovered, eight fail to stop for police recorded, one arrest for possession of an offensive weapon, numerous intelligence reports gathered and submitted.
"We would like to thank our special constables and the cadets for their assistance in this proactive operation, and to members of the public who took the time to thank the cadets for their dedication on the day.
